Sarnia Saves FAQ

How does the program work?
  • This program rewards Enbridge gas residential customers in Sarnia, Point Edward and Bright’s Grove that have qualified thermostats to opt into brief smart thermostat adjustments during periods of peak natural gas demand in the winter. Click here to learn more on why Enbridge Gas is offering this program.

  • During the winter months, Enbridge Gas will make few brief smart thermostat adjustments to enrolled smart thermostats. These adjustments are being done to better understand their collective impacts on the natural gas system’s peak period demand. 
  • Brief thermostat adjustments are limited to 2 degrees Celsius or less and last no more than 4 hours. Adjustments will happen between 4am-10pm Eastern Time on weekdays from December to March, never on weekends or holidays.
  • Participate in the program before March 31, 2026 to receive an additional $20 virtual prepaid Mastercard. 

Am I eligible to enroll in the program?

This exclusive offer is available to homeowners in Sarnia and Point Edward with postal codes starting with N7S, N7V, N7W, N7X, N7T (north of Highway 25 and west of Highway 26) and Brights Grove with postal code N0N 1C0.

You can join if:

  • You have an active Enbridge Gas account.
  • You heat your home with a natural gas heating system.
  • You have a qualified, working Wi-Fi-enabled smart thermostat installed in your home.
  • You live in a single-detached, semi-detached, row house/townhome, mobile home on a permanent foundation, or a unit in a multi-unit residential building where you control the smart thermostat.

OR

  • You operate a microbusiness in a former residential dwelling with residential-sized HVAC equipment.
Can I participate in this program and Peak Perks?
Yes, customers participating in this program can also participate in Peak Perks. Peak Perks is a program from Save on Energy that rewards electricity customers in Ontario for opting into brief smart thermostat adjustments during periods of peak electricity demand in the summer.
What do I get for enrolling?
You’ll receive a one-time $75 Prepaid Mastercard after you successfully enroll in the program and a $20 annual reward. These rewards are available per household.
When will I get my $75 Prepaid Mastercard?
Your Prepaid Mastercard will be sent to the email address associated with your thermostat registration within 60 days of being accepted into the program. 
How do I earn the $20 annual reward?
  • You'll receive a $20 virtual Prepaid Mastercard if you participate in the program before March 31, 2026.

  • The $20 virtual Prepaid Mastercard will be sent to the email address used to register your smart thermostat.

Which thermostats qualify?

Homeowners can join the program with a Wi-Fi-enabled smart thermostat connected to a natural gas central heating system. Eligible devices are listed below.

How do I sign up for this program?
  1. If you don’t yet own a smart thermostat, start by getting a Wi‑Fi–enabled smart thermostat. You can take advantage of the $100 smart thermostat rebate from the Home Renovation Savings program.
  2. If you already have a qualifying thermostat, select your brand from the list of eligible models and click “Enroll Now.” You’ll be directed to a short enrollment form.
  3. Once Enbridge Gas confirms your eligibility, you will receive a confirmation of your enrollment status via the email address linked to your thermostat account.
How will I know that a temperature adjustment is in progress?
Depending on your thermostat provider, notifications will appear on the thermostat or in your web/mobile application.
What happens during a thermostat adjustment?
  • During an adjustment, your thermostat will be adjusted by up to 2 degrees Celsius below your current setting for no more than 4 hours.
  • Your thermostat may also pre-heat your home before an event starts though this may not always happen.
Can I opt out of an adjustment?
You’re always in control and can opt out of any adjustment from your thermostat, mobile device, or web app.
Is Enbridge Gas working with third party to delivery the program?
  • Enbridge Gas is working with authorized third-party partners EnergyHub, and EnergyHub’s service providers Choice Digital and Blackhawk Network, to administer certain elements of this program.
  • You may receive updates or responses to email inquiries from EnergyHub, Choice Digital, or Blackhawk Network. You will be prompted to sign up for the My Prepaid Center application operated by Blackhawk Network to redeem your Prepaid Mastercard. These are legitimate communications from authorized program representatives.
  • If you have any concerns about the authenticity of program-related communications, please contact us at sarniasaves@energyhub.com.
What if I want to leave the program?
You can leave the program at any time. Just send an email to sarniasaves@energyhub.com to request removal. Once you’re unenrolled, you won’t receive the annual $20 reward and your thermostat will no longer participate in this program or future adjustments.
