Connected thermostats make it easy and convenient to manage your home’s energy use. You can adjust your thermostat on the go or simply set an automatic schedule that optimizes your energy usage based on your routine. And by signing up with NYSEG, you’ll receive additional rewards.

By enrolling your thermostat in Smart Savings Rewards, you agree to let NYSEG make brief, limited adjustments to your connected thermostat during times of peak summer electric demand.* During an adjustment made by NYSEG, your thermostat will be automatically shifted up to 4 degrees from the current temperature for up to 4 hours. A pre-cool may be scheduled by NYSEG prior to the temperature increase. Pre-cools can lower your thermostat temperature by 3 degrees from the current temperature for up to 90 minutes. Thermostat adjustments only occur on non-holiday weekdays when demand is at its highest (May 1 through September 30). Once the adjustment is over, your thermostat will return to its normal set point and/or schedule.

You’ll save energy and money without sacrificing comfort – and help NYSEG keep the electric grid reliable. As a thank you, you’ll get $70 for each thermostat you enroll and $20** after the summer season.

*The thermostat must be connected to a central air conditioning (AC) system.

**To receive the annual bill credit of $20 you must participate in one full event without opting out.
