 Entergy New Orleans FAQ

What is the Entergy New Orleans Energy Smart Electric Vehicle Charging Program?

The Entergy New Orleans Energy Smart Electric Vehicle Charging Program lets EV drivers earn money while supporting a more reliable grid. By enrolling, you allow Entergy New Orleans to recommend charging times that are less stressful on the grid and more affordable for everyone. You stay in control — you choose your charge level, and you can always decide whether or not to follow the recommendations.

How does the program work?
  • Customers are required to charge during off-peak hours, when energy demand is lower. You can follow these recommendations to earn rewards, but you always decide when to charge.

  • The off-peak window is between Monday through Friday, 9pm-6am excluding holidays. After you enroll, you’ll keep plugging in and start charging during off-peak hours.

  • You’ll also receive a $50 Virtual Visa® Prepaid Card when you sign up, plus up to $60 for each additional year you stay enrolled and charge at least 80% of the time within the off-peak window. Payments are issued twice a year, in January and July.

Will my EV always be fully charged?

Yes. Your EV will always finish charging to the level you set. Recommendations may shift charging to less busy hours, but they won’t stop your EV from reaching the charge level you’ve chosen. If your plans change, you can adjust your schedule in your EV or charger app at any time.

Which EVs and chargers qualify?

The program works with certain EVs and Level 2 smart chargers. To participate, your device needs to be connected to Wi-Fi and linked to your manufacturer’s account. Check the eligibility chart for the most up-to-date list of supported devices before you apply.

Do I need a specific charger to participate?

No. You can enroll with:

  • An eligible Level 2 charger
  • A supported EV
How will I know if I’m accepted into the program?

After you apply, Entergy New Orleans will send you an email confirmation. This can take up to two weeks. If more information is needed to complete your enrollment, we’ll email you with any next steps.

What rewards do I receive?
  • You’ll get a $50 Virtual Visa® Prepaid Card when you enroll with a qualifying EV or charger. You’ll also receive up to $60 for each additional year you participate and charge at least 80% of the time within the off-peak window.

  • These rewards are our thanks for helping Entergy New Orleans encourage smarter charging and reduce stress on the grid.

How and when will I get paid?

The enrollment reward is sent as a Virtual Visa® Prepaid Card. Ongoing participation payments are issued twice a year, in January and July, also by Virtual Visa® Prepaid Card. You’ll get an email with instructions to access and use your card whenever a payment is sent.

Can I opt out of recommendations?

Yes. You’re always in control of when and how you charge. If you don’t want to follow a recommended time, you can simply ignore it and charge as usual.

What happens if my EV or charger loses its Wi-Fi connection?
Your device needs to stay connected to Wi-Fi so Entergy New Orleans can send charging recommendations. If your EV or charger goes offline, you’ll still be able to charge as usual, but Entergy New Orleans won’t be able to provide recommendations until your device reconnects. To ensure you’re still participating and receiving rewards, we recommend confirming that your device has reconnected in the event of Wi-Fi disconnection.
Where can I find program terms and conditions?

You can find terms and conditions for all EV and EV charger manufacturers here: Terms and Conditions

The above terms and conditions outline eligibility, rewards, device requirements, and how recommendations are provided.

Who can I contact with questions?

If you have questions or want to end your participation, email us at energysmartev@energyhub.com. We’ll be happy to help with eligibility, enrollment, device setup, rewards, and anything else you may need.
