PECO Flex & Save FAQ
PECO Flex & Save lets EV drivers earn rewards while supporting a cleaner, more reliable grid. By enrolling, you allow PECO to make automatic adjustments to your charging during busy hours. This approach helps reduce strain on the grid while keeping energy more affordable for everyone. You still decide on your charge level, and your EV will always be ready when you need it.
Why is PECO offering Flex & Save?
Under Pennsylvania Act 129, PECO must offer customers programs to reduce their electric consumption and demand. To achieve that goal, the Public Utility Commission (PUC) approved a PECO plan that created several energy efficiency programs, including PECO Flex & Save.
Who is eligible to participate?
All PECO residential electric customers are eligible who are not on a Time-of-Use rate.
The program works with certain EVs and Level 2 smart chargers. To participate, your device needs to be connected to Wi-Fi and linked to your manufacturer’s account. Check the eligibility chart for the most up-to-date list of supported devices before you apply.

How long will the PECO Flex & Save program be available?
This program is currently available through May 31, 2031. Rules and incentives may change, and funds are limited and subject to availability. For more information on how you can get started, email pecoflexrewards@energyhub.com, or call 888-5-PECO-SAVE (888-573-2672).
How does the program work?
-
After you enroll, you’ll keep plugging in and charging at home the same way you do now. PECO will pause your charging during busy peak hours and shift it to recommended off-peak charging times. This approach helps reduce strain on the grid and makes energy more affordable for everyone. You still decide your charge level, and your EV will always be ready when you need it.
-
You’ll manage your charging directly in your manufacturer’s app and if your plans change, you can adjust your charging schedule or override an adjustment at any time.
-
The Flex & Save EV program is divided into two seasons, summer and winter.
-
From June to August, your charging will be shifted to avoid charging during the On-Peak hours, typically between 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on non-holiday weekdays, Eastern Standard Time.
-
During January and February, your charging will be shifted to avoid charging between the peak hours of 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on non-holiday weekdays, Eastern Standard Time.
Will my EV always be fully charged?
Yes, your EV will always finish charging to the level you set. Adjustments only change when your EV charges but not how much it charges. Your vehicle could take longer to reach its specific charge level if it overlaps with the peak hours. However, you can always override the adjustment in your EV or charger app so charging begins right away.
How will I know if I’m accepted into the program?
After you apply, PECO will send you an email confirming receipt of your application. Review and acceptance into the program can take up to two weeks. If more information is needed to complete your enrollment, we’ll email you with any next steps.
What rewards do I receive?
You’ll get a $60 rebate check for each summer and winter season you’re enrolled. That’s up to $120 a year*.
When and how can I expect to receive my incentive?
Incentive payments will be issued by paper check and mailed within 6 weeks after the conclusion of each season to the mailing address provided at enrollment. Participants are responsible for ensuring that mailing information is accurate and current.
Can I opt out of adjustments?
Yes. You can ignore a charging adjustment at any time and charge as usual. If PECO makes an automatic adjustment and your plans change, you can override it in your EV or charger app to start charging immediately.
What happens if my EV or charger loses its Wi-Fi connection?
Your device needs to stay connected to Wi-Fi so PECO can make adjustments. If your EV or charger goes offline, you’ll still be able to charge as usual, but PECO won’t receive information or be able to manage charging until your device reconnects. To ensure you’re still participating and receiving rewards, we recommend confirming that your device has reconnected in the event of Wi-Fi disconnection.
Will overriding a charging adjustment or losing my device’s Wi‑Fi connection affect my incentive amount?
Not if the situation is temporary. You’re always in control of your charging and can override a charging recommendation at any time without affecting your cash back. If your EV or charger goes offline, PECO will reach out up to three times with steps to help you reconnect. A temporary disconnection will not impact your payment as long as your device is reconnected when requested. However, if your device remains offline for a prolonged period after PECO’s attempts to reconnect, you may be removed from the program.
Where can I find program terms and conditions?
