Since the Ameren IL Peak Time Savings program is currently paused, what happens when I apply?

Your application will be reviewed once enrollments are re-open. But in the meantime, some customers may be prioritized for acceptance based on their location and additional needs for load relief in those areas.

What is the Ameren Illinois’ Peak Time Savings program?

• Peak Time Savings is a voluntary program for Ameren Illinois residential electric customers with qualifying smart thermostats to ease energy demand without sacrificing comfort.
• When summer temperatures climb, demand for electricity increases and can cause strain on the grid. Ameren Illinois’ Peak Time Savings program is designed to help reduce energy use during times of high energy demand. This decreases the use of less efficient and more expensive power sources. That’s good for the environment, and it helps keep energy costs low for everyone.
• Participants agree to brief adjustments of 4 degrees or less to their thermostats during peak electric demand periods throughout the year. Adjustments to your thermostat will last no more than 4 hours.
• Adjustments will typically occur between 1-7pm CT, but may occur between 6am-10pm CT.
• Participants will receive a one-time $50 virtual prepaid Mastercard® per device after successfully enrolling in the program. In addition, participants will receive a $25 Prepaid Mastercard per device each year following the anniversary of their enrollment in the program.

How will I know if I’m eligible to enroll?

• Be an Ameren Illinois residential electric customer and the electric service is in your name.
• Use a qualified internet-connected smart thermostat.
• Allow the program to make brief, small thermostat adjustments on days of high energy demand
• Not be currently participating in any other demand response program

• If you have an existing thermostat, please select your thermostat among the eligible models. Then, click the Enroll Now button to go to your thermostat’s enrollment site, where you will follow a series of simple steps to enroll.
• If you don’t have an existing eligible thermostat, please choose a qualifying model, purchase and install it. Once you have installed and activated, come back to enroll your new thermostat in the program.
• Once your eligibility is confirmed by Ameren Illinois, you will be enrolled in the program. You will receive notification on your enrollment status via email using the address provided in your account registration.

How will I know that a temperature adjustment is in progress?

• At the start of an adjustment event, your thermostat will be automatically adjusted up to 4 degrees above the current temperature setting.
• The event will last no more than 4 hours
• Prior to an event, your thermostat may be adjusted down slightly to pre-cool your home so that you remain comfortable while the event is taking place. Pre-cooling may not always occur if an urgent event is called.
