When energy use is especially high across our region, such as on the hottest days of the year, the electric grid works harder to keep up with demand.

To help keep energy reliable during these peak periods, Avista may make small, temporary adjustments to the smart thermostats of customers who choose to enroll in this program. These adjustments are designed to have little impact on your comfort while helping prevent strain on the electric system.

You’ve got the option to opt out at any time, so you can always stay in control.

If you own are an Avista customer and own a qualified smart thermostat to control your air conditioner or heat pump, you may be eligible to participate! 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Earn $30 and keep getting rewarded.

Signing up for the program earns you a $30 Avista bill credit. And customers who stay enrolled each summer may earn an additional $20 reward each season. It’s an easy way to turn your smart thermostat into something that gives back, year after year.

Stay in control

You can opt out of adjustments at any time from your mobile device, web browser or thermostat. If the program no longer meets your needs, you can unenroll at any time.

About the Avista MyEnergy Rewards: Smart Thermostat Program  

Your smart thermostat already helps manage your home’s heating and cooling. Now, it can help you earn rewards too.

The Avista MyEnergy Rewards: Smart Thermostat Program is an optional program that rewards Avista customers for helping reduce electricity demand during high-demand summer days.

When electricity use is expected to be at its highest, participating thermostats may receive small, temporary temperature adjustments.

These are small, temporary changes, so small you may not even notice them. When many customers participate in the program, they can make a meaningful difference for the electric system.

As a participant, you'll receive:

  • A one-time $30 Avista bill credit for enrolling
  • Up to $20 in Avista bill credits each summer you remain enrolled (paid as $5/month bill credit for June, July, August, September)
  • The ability to opt out of any event at any time

Programs like this are becoming common across the country as communities grow and demand for electricity increases. When many customers make small adjustments together, it helps ease pressure on the grid during the times it is needed most.
