Your thermostat can give you a chance to earn rewards 

NW Natural Thermostat Rewards is open for NW Natural customers with a qualifying smart thermostat that controls a natural gas furnace for space heating. You’ll get a $25 reward for signing up (after we screen for eligibility), plus the chance to receive a $25 reward for participating during the winter. The program season starts November 1 and ends March 31, every year starting from 2024. You can enroll in the program at any time.

During the coldest winter days, demand for natural gas increases. When a specific cold-weather event is called for the program, your thermostat will automatically adjust to reduce some of your natural gas use during the event time. And if you don’t like the adjustment in temperature, you can always override the change.

Participating in NW Natural Thermostat Rewards could help with reliable distribution of natural gas on the coldest winter days and give you an opportunity to earn rewards for participating.

How it works

After being accepted into the program, you’ll get an email before an event, or you’ll get a notification on your thermostat or smartphone thermostat app. This tells you when the event will start and stop.*

Before the event, your thermostat may automatically make a small temperature setting adjustment in the morning and may pre-heat your home from one to three degrees (Fahrenheit). This may vary by event and also by thermostat manufacturer settings.

 During the event, your thermostat will temporarily lower the temperature setting by one to four degrees (Fahrenheit). After the event, your thermostat will automatically return to its scheduled setting.
 
 

If you participate in at least 50% of all the event hours you're eligible for during the winter season, you can earn a $25 reward.

Remember – you’re in control of your comfort. If you don’t like the change in temperature, you can always opt-out of an event and override the thermostat setting.
