How it works

Sign up

If you are a SMECO residential member and own an eligible smart thermostat to control your central AC or electric heating , you can enroll now!

Earn bill credits

SMECO will reward you for conserving energy by making small, temporary adjustments to your smart thermostat during peak energy demand.

Stay in control

You can opt out of thermostat adjustments at any time from your mobile device, web browser, or thermostat.

About Smart Savings Rewards 

Thermostats make it easy and convenient to manage your home’s energy use. And by signing up with SMECO’s SmartTemp program, you’ll receive additional rewards.

By enrolling your thermostat, you agree to let SMECO make brief, small adjustments to your thermostat during times of peak electric demand. New participants will get a one-time $50 bonus check just for enrolling.

  • If you use your smart thermostat for cooling, you can earn up to $50 each summer you participate, paid in $10 bill credits June through October. Enroll your smart thermostat to start earning for summer only.

  • If you use your smart thermostat for cooling and electric heating, you may be eligible for SmartTemp Year Round, where you can earn up to $96 each year you participate, paid in $8 bill credits January through December. SMECO will reach out to eligible SmartTemp customers to enroll.
