(For Google Nest thermostats invoice must be dated on or after April 1, 2023 to qualify for a rebate)

How will I know if I’m eligible to enroll? 

To qualify, you must:

  • Be a Minnesota Xcel Energy residential electric customer with central air conditioning

    • Minnesota Xcel Energy natural gas customers with gas heating are eligible for the $50 rebate for the smart thermostat, but are not eligible to enroll in AC Rewards unless they also have electric service and central air conditioning

       

  • Install or have an eligible thermostat listed below

  • Have WiFi (required for AC Rewards but not for the $50 rebate)

     

You are not eligible if:

  • You live in an apartment, condominium, or mobile home.

  • You are a Saver's Switch participant: You cannot participate in both Saver's Switch and AC Rewards. Saver's Switch participants who choose to switch to AC Rewards will no longer receive bill credits, and the Saver's switch device will be deactivated. Other restrictions may apply.

Can I get a discount on a new smart thermostat?

If you need to purchase a smart thermostat, an additional $50 instant rebate is available for eligible AC Rewards devices at the Xcel Energy Store opens in a new window.

You can also purchase an eligible smart thermostat from another retailer or have it installed by a contractor, and submit an application to receive a rebate. You can:

Complete and send the application by September 30th of the year following the installation with your dated invoice. It takes about eight weeks to receive a rebate check. Devices purchased from other retailers or contractors prior to April 1, 2019 are not eligible for a rebate.

Devices that are purchased from the Xcel Energy Store have already had the rebate (if any) applied at the time of purchase and are not eligible for an additional rebate.  

 

Are incentives available if I already have a smart thermostat?

You can still enroll your thermostat and earn a $100 incentive.

To enroll, you'll need your thermostat manufacturer device credentials and either the email address or phone number associated with your account.
