Smart thermostats make it easy and convenient to manage your home or business's energy use. You can adjust your thermostat on the go or simply set an automatic schedule that optimizes your energy usage based on your routine.

When you enroll in ConnectedSolutions, you will receive an enrollment incentive per qualifying thermostat from Eversource. These thermostats allow minor, short-term temperature adjustments to reduce power use during periods of high electricity demand called “peak energy events”. By participating in peak energy events, you help save energy and maintain system efficiency for your community. Plus, if you stay enrolled, you will receive an additional annual reward per thermostat at the end of each summer

Incentive amounts can vary based on income and location. The standard residential incentive includes a $50 one-time enrollment incentive and a $20 annual reward.

Eligible customers in Massachusetts and Connecticut may receive enhanced incentives, including:

• Residential income-eligible: $100 enrollment, $20 annually
• Residents of select areas in Massachusetts only: $150 enrollment, $20 annually
• Small Business: $50 enrollment, $200 annually

What happens in an event:

• Notification: You will be notified through either email, in app notification or on your smart thermostat device

• Pre-cool*: Pre-cool keeps you comfortable by lowering your thermostat set point before an event. Pre-cooling activates before peak events, so energy use during pre-cool and the event will be similar to non-event days.

• During Event*: At the start of a peak energy event, your thermostat will be automatically adjusted by no more than four degrees above your original temperature.

  • For example: On an event day, if your thermostat is at 72 and pre-cool sets it to 70, the event could adjust it up to 76 (four degrees higher than your initial setting).

  • Minimizing energy use during peak times helps to reduce the demand on the grid, manage your energy costs and lower pollution in our communities. You’ll always have the option to opt out at any time from your mobile device, web browser or thermostat.

• Post Event: Once the temperature adjustment is over, your thermostat will return to its normal set point and/or schedule

*Please note, if you have an ecobee device, your pre-cool and during event parameters will be customized based on your historic thermostat usage patterns.
