Power Savers Mid-Atlantic Power Savers FAQ

Enrollment is currently paused for: all devices within Duke Energy Ohio, and AEP Ohio.

Enrollment for ComEd is currently going to run through the Connected Savings program and is paused temporarily for Alarm.com devices. We plan to re-open these devices later this year.

Please check back for when enrollment re-opens! If you have applied recently and not yet confirmed your acceptance into the program, you can still complete data authorization and be accepted into the program.

How do I sign up for Power Savers?
  • If you have an existing eligible thermostat, please select your thermostat among the eligible models. Then, click the Enroll Now button to go to your thermostat’s enrollment site, where you will follow a series of simple steps to enroll.
  • If you don’t have an existing eligible thermostat, please choose a qualifying model, purchase and install it. Once you have installed and activated, come back to enroll your new thermostat in the program.

  • If you are a customer of ComEd, Duke Energy Ohio, or AEP Ohio, you will receive an email requesting connection to your utility account following the submission of your application. Once you have successfully connected your utility account and your eligibility is confirmed, you will be enrolled in the program. You will receive notification on your enrollment status via email using the address provided in your account registration.
  • A subset of customers who have not completed their data authorization may be accepted during the season for system testing and will be eligible for the incentive sweepstakes. Customers are encouraged to complete their data authorization in order to participate in additional events and increase their chances of sweepstakes selection.
  • Customers are free to disenroll at any time.
How do I connect my utility account via Arcadia?
  • Click the link in your confirmation email to go to your utility’s login page.
  • Enter the username and password for your utility account.

  • For Duke Ohio customers only: You must have Two Step Verification disabled in order to ensure a stable data connection. If Two Step Verification is turned on, you will become ineligible for program participation.

  • Once the connection is successful, you will receive an on-screen message confirming that authorization is complete.

Why do I have to connect my utility account with Arcadia?
To comply with program rules, Power Savers Mid-Atlantic is required to provide electricity usage data from the utility meter when registering your home for demand response programs. We use this information during the annual registration period, as well as throughout the program season after each demand response event to demonstrate performance to the grid operator.

How will I know that a temperature adjustment is in progress?
Depending on your thermostat provider, notifications will appear on the thermostat or in your web/mobile application.
How will my thermostat be adjusted?
  • At the start of an adjustment event, your thermostat will be automatically adjusted up to 4 degrees above the current temperature setting.
  • The event will last typically last 1-4 hours.

  • Prior to an event, your thermostat may be adjusted slightly to pre-cool or pre-heat your home so that you remain comfortable while the event is taking place. Pre-conditioning may not always occur if an urgent event is called.

Will participating in the program compromise my comfort?
During an event, your thermostat will be adjusted by 4 degrees or less. Your participation is voluntary, and you will retain control of your thermostat. You can easily opt out of an event for any reason.
Am I allowed to opt out of Power Savers events?
Yes. During an event, you can opt out from your thermostat, mobile device or web app.
What should I do if I no longer want to participate in the program?
Send an email to powersavers-midatlantic@energyhub.net requesting to end your participation in the program. Once you have been taken off the program, your thermostat(s) will no longer be enrolled.
What if I have additional questions about the program?
Please contact powersavers-midatlantic@energyhub.net directly, rather than your electric utility company. This program is not affiliated with your utility, and as the program provider, we can best assist with any questions about program participation.
